An In-house Training Course
Designed for: Knorr-Bremse AG
What is Knorr-Bremse?
Knorr-Bremse is the world market leader for braking systems, electronic brake control, driver assistance systems, and air treatment, thus making an essential contribution to road safety. Knorr-Bremse is committed to protecting the environment and the climate in all its activities. They strive to offer their employees worldwide an attractive working environment. Since qualified, healthy, happy employees are a cornerstone of commercial success. Therefore, they encourage and empower employees to achieve their professional goals.
In this project, our team worked on providing in-house educational courses and certificates as a reward, to meet the SDG8 goals.
To accomplish this based on company's goals for SDG8 which was extending the development opportunities through e-learning platform, we provided an online platform that everyone can access easily through phone or laptop around the world.

Design Goals
-
Create an educational platform focusing on SDG8
-
Enhance employees' motivation towards sustainable development goals of the company
Challenge
-
How Knorr-Bremse can transform while employees are integrated into company's sustainability approach?
-
How might we motivate employees towards company's goals?

In order to understand the employees' needs, company's goals, and values, we conducted a lot of research and a workshop on the Mural platform. This workshop includes 5 stages, ice breaker, multiple-choice questions, qualitative questions, ideas, and one-word questions.

To understand more about our users and dive deeper into empathizing with the employees, we created personas based on three sensitive cases in company. A woman who is close to her retirements, an employee who works in Knorr-Bremse for a long time, and a young person who is new in the company.

According to SDG8, we decided to work on an in-house educational course with a reward to give employees motivation to attend. Therefore, to understand which type of reward would be desirable for employees, a brainstorming session is done to reach a bunch of ideas. Then we voted them to select one out of those ideas.

We divided the course into three sections, green, silver, and gold.

To understand how users will interact in each stage, we created a user journey to have a closer look at how users would interact during these courses.

What I learned
It is not so much your idea that gets a business successful, but the motive to solve a problem you are passionate about and help others. I learned not to only pitch an idea, but to get others to evaluate my idea, and obtain advice that would help me improve on my design. By listening to customers' needs, I was able to overcome my biases and allow my ideas to become more of a reality and feasible.
